Digital Wellbeing

With the ever-increasing role of digital technologies in our personal, working and educational lives comes the question: What impact does frequent and sustained use of digital devices have on our health and wellbeing?

According to Jisc, Digital Wellbeing is a fundamental element of Digital Capabilities, specifically:

  • looking after personal health, safety, relationships and work-life balance in digital settings
  • using digital tools in pursuit of personal goals (e.g. health and fitness) and to participate in social and community activities
  • acting safely and responsibly in digital environments
  • negotiating and resolving conflict
  • managing digital workload, overload and distraction
  • acting with concern for the human and natural environment when using digital tools

Resources for improving your digital wellbeing:

As an LSHTM student

The majority of our students are based at a distance from our Programme teams, but if you need Programme specific advice you will be able to contact the Programme teams through their dedicated e-mail address to the support office.

There is information available via the LSHTM Virtual Student Hub and some information available through the Student Support Services Moodle page.  Look also in the DL General Zone on the main Moodle pages, where a 'Well being' tile has links and resources.

Digital stress

"Don't spend too much time staring into your screen. Sometimes you need to turn off your phone to recharge your brain." Marco, 2nd-year student
